Sick Day Con't

Okay so it's been three days since my last entry. Sorry! It's been a rough three. There's terrible twos, but have you heard of terrible threes, haha?
Sorry.
Since it's still the terrible threes, nearing fluctuating four because I'm not sure if today counts as a good day or not, I'll make this a Guide to Self Care:

Guide to Self Care (by personal experience)
  1. Make some kind of hot drink. Nothing too strong, though
  2. Open the windows if it's a good day, but don't open them if you have allergies
  3. Play some soft background music (or some loud music since that's pretty nice as well)
  4. Stop all thought processes (try thinking the phrase, "I wonder what my next thought will be?") and set aside responsibilities for a moment
  5. Sit down in a comfortable reclining chair, or something with a recline at the least (if there is no reclining/reclined furniture in sight, lie down on your bed)
  6. Turn on the TV, read a book, write something without a definite goal, do something mindless, or simply stay in your comfortable position and listen to the music and let your mind go on an adventure with the song
  7. Allow yourself a break
Now that might not be very useful for some people, but it's certainly something that helps me (if I have the time to go through with it). Sometimes you really just need some time alone to think or to sit back and allow yourself a break. If you're constantly rushing around nonstop, you'll burn yourself out. You'll lose motivation, interest, and just anything to get you by the day. You deserve a bit of time to slow down. 10-15 minutes is not a lot of time lost from your work (unless you're on a timed schedule for that work).

And sometimes there are days that you need a reason to start. A reason to restart.
  •  Is there a movie that's coming out that you want to see? Just keep getting through the days; you're nearly there
  • Your pet needs you to take care of it. It'll miss you if you stay in bed or if you don't come back
  • Maybe the weather today will be nice. Don't want to miss it now, do you?
  • Are you craving some bread? Coffee? Cereal? Anything? Go after that craving!
  • Is there something for dinner or lunch or any meal that you're excited for?
  • Do you have a lot of books that're still left unread? How about books you want to revisit?
  • How many more days until your next vacation/break? Don't let those days of waiting go to waste!
  • Is there a holiday close by?
  • Is it morning? Then you should go outside, look out the window at the least! The morning view is very light and soft. The air is also fresh and could remind you of a spring day (or just a frigid winter if it's winter)!
  • Is it the afternoon? Nothing like lazy afternoons, right? Little things, little things! Sitting on your porch, light gardening, letting the breeze rush into your room, baking something nice for yourself, etc.
  • Is it nighttime? Better to start late than never. The night breeze is very nice! Sometimes it can be cold, but bundle yourself up tight and go outside a bit! Look at the sky, full of already-dead stars but ever so beautiful. Can you find the moon tonight? You should try heading somewhere into the city where there's lots of lights and a number of people. It gives you an almost magical feel to the place.
  • Today might not be a good day, but there will be a good day eventually if you keep pushing through. It's about making it to the next day, not waking up and finding that today is going to be amazing immediately.
I'm proud you've made it to today. You're strong for pulling through and surviving to this point. You may not be significant to the world's eyes, but nobody else is either. You are important to the people you know. Maybe your co-workers, or your peers, or maybe some old lady you drive by every morning. You are important to them even though they don't realize it, because you are part of their normal everyday lives. You are a vital part to them. You are a part of their stability.

Don't give up, please. It's worth it to make it to the next day, no matter how painful. You are worth it.

You.
