Daffodils

Do you know what a daffodil means? It means rebirth and new beginnings. It means hope and joy and creativity. It means forgiveness.

Sometimes in life you need to take a deep breath and start back at square one. Nothing fancy, no collecting 200 at GO, no rug pulled from under move. Start from scratch and tell and yourself that it's just one more retry and you'll get it right. It might take a hundred of those "one more retry" moments until you reach a point where you can say, "I'd like to move on now."
Now, I'm not that far into life yet, and I don't know everything there is to know. In fact, I don't even know everything I need to know for myself as of now. But what I do know is that I'm tired. Waking up everyday and lying in bed for an hour at the least debating whether or not it's even worth it to get out and start the day. Everyday there's always the feeling that I'd rather die than go to school.
But I've somehow managed to get out of bed every morning up to today. I'll tell myself, "I'm proud you've made it to today," and I'll let myself believe that I am proud. Sometimes it's the little things in life that keeps us going. The smallest things are worth getting out of bed for. The smallest things are worth making it to the next day. The smallest things are worth it.
But maybe it's not just giving yourself a reason to move forward. Maybe it's allowing yourself to move forward. How many times did you wish you could've restart the day today? You might not be able to restart the day, but you are able to restart yourself. Sometimes it's not about forgiving the day and everything that had transpired; it's about forgiving yourself. Start over, even if it's 3 pm. Start over, even if it's nearly midnight. Start over, even when the day has just begun. Collect the pieces, dust them off, polish the dulled sides until they shine.
And start back at square one.

I'm not trying to make this beautiful. I understand there are times when life will go against you in every way, when everything begins to fall apart in front of you and you can't do anything to stop it, when everything is just too much to handle and you just want it all to stop.
Everyone's heard the saying, "It'll get better!" or "With hard work, good things will come your way!" But that's not always true, is it? Life is not a game of Karma. Life doesn't have a balance between the pain and rewards.
But it's better to believe than to look at everything on the bad side. Sure it's good to weigh the odds and look at all the possible outcomes, but you can't always focus on the negatives. Allow yourself to believe that a good will come out of your efforts and your struggles. Do everything like it'll be worth something, even if you don't know what that something is or if it will ever be worth anything. Everything you do has got to be worth something to you. That's the most important part: you.
Your life is for you.
Restart for you. Take a break for you. Take a moment to just focus on you. Not for anybody else. Just solely for you, and only you.
You are worth it.
You are worth that moment of happiness. You are worth that smile. You are worth taking a moment to just breathe and forget everything around you.
You can spend days caring for others or buried in your work, but you are still the most important thing in your world.
You are important. You are worth a restart. You are worth a break. You are worth the false senses of hope and the true ones. You are worth forgiving.

Humans are like flowers. Diverse, beautiful, unique. We are also fragile, though fragile can be relative depending on the person. We mean different things, we feel different things, we are different things.
If you ever hit a wall in life, remember that you can be a daffodil. You can be a daffodil, or you can give yourself a daffodil, or you can find yourself a daffodil. Find yourself that new start. Find yourself that moment that keeps you moving forward. Find yourself something to reach for. Find it in yourself to forgive yourself.
Now I'll ask you again:

Do you know what a daffodil means?
